Here's Everything We Know About "Heartstopper" Season 2 So Far

One thing we know? It can't come fast enough!

Heartstopper stole our hearts this year. The teen TV show based on a webcomic created by Alice Oseman was just what everyone needed, and we miss it already!

Thankfully, Netflix had the good sense to renew it! Here's everything we know so far about Season 2:

1. It will be followed by a confirmed third season.

On May 20, 2022, creator of Heartstopper and author of the Heartstopper comics, Alice Oseman, announced that the second season — and third season! —of Heartstopper had been confirmed.

Speaking to RadioTimes in April 2022, Oseman said, "It would probably be four seasons to cover the full story. I haven't done any in-detail planning or anything, but it's quite easy to divide up the books into seasons, so four I think would do it."

Fingers crossed we get that fourth one!

2. The gang is (probably) headed to Paris.

Considering the first season covered Volumes 1 and 2 of the Heartstopper graphic novels, it's safe to assume that Season 2 will focus on plotlines from Heartstopper Volume 3. 

One of the key plot points in Volume 3 is a school trip to Paris for Grade 10/11 Truham-Higgs students. In the comics, the Paris trip brings about quite a few things, like standard teenage mischief, new couples, and of course, some secrets.

3. A new character will be introduced.

On July 8, Alice Oseman and the official Heartstopper TV Instagram account posted a casting call for a character being introduced in Season 2, Sahar Zahid. 

Sahar Zahid exists in the Heartstopper comics and is Arabian. She's a student at Truham and used to attend Higgins. She's also a main member of the "Paris Squad," a group of students including Nick and Charlie that spend time together on the joint school's trip to Paris.  

While Sahar's role is quite minimal in the book, the casting call alludes to her character being more prominent in the show, which is exciting!

4. Things might get a little dark.

As aforementioned, some secrets do come out during the Paris trip. Nothing relationship-threatening, don't worry! But our beloved characters will be opening up about some mental health struggles they've been having which might hurt to witness.

5. Tao and Elle will (probably) finally get together.

I know, it feels like they're already together. But somehow, at the end of Season 1, these two were still just friends! 

If the show follows the comics, we can expect Tao and Elle to finally confess their feelings together and maybe even share a very romantic kiss in a famous place.

6. We may get a new couple.

In the comics, a relationship forms between two teachers during the Paris trip. If Season 2 stays true to the comics and follows Volume 3 accurately, we'll see a new romance bloom!

7. We shouldn't expect any breakups.

Let out that collective sigh of relief. Though Heartstopper does deal with real issues, the romances in the comics are generally safe, and for lack of a better descriptor, not toxic. These first loves are sweet, and if the show stays true to the comics, we won't see any breakups. 

8. The full cast is expected to return.

There haven't been any announcements from cast members noting their departure from the show, and all of them have storylines in the third volume of the Heartstopper comics, so we should expect to see all of our faves return. 

There has been some speculation about Yasmin Finney, who plays Elle, possibly having scheduling issues, as she recently took on a new role as Rose in Dr. Who, but the actress hasn't confirmed anything. 

9. Harry may try to make amends.

In the Heartstopper comic, Harry attempts an apology but is too little, too late. If the apology scene is included in the show, prepare to feel vindicated by Charlie's reaction, which isn't exactly forgiving.

10. We could be meeting a new villain.

While we shouldn't expect any more grief from Harry, we may have a new villain to fear in Nick's brother, David. In the Heartstopper comic, David is basically a jerk with no filter — kind of the anti-Tori Spring. If he appears in Season 2, prepare to hate him.

11. Season two returns soon!

On July 10, Netflix UK released a graphic revealing all of the episode titles of the new season, showcasing the author and artist of the Heartstopper comics Alice Oseman's signature style.

There are eight episodes in the second season, with titles like "Out," "Truth or Dare," and "Sorry."
