The two Italy-based auto manufacturers did not receive any major damage at their production facility located few miles from the quake epicenter.
A burly earthquake left the northern Italy stunned this Sunday, rupturing pavement, wrecking historic buildings, and killing as many as seven people. The powerful shake in Emilia Romagna region was the first in centuries and was not alarming on the scale. Two of the innate auto manufacturers in the region reported that the shock had no impact on their operations.
While Lamborghini is located in Sant’Agata Bolognese, about 19 miles from the quake’s epicenter, Ferrari’s Maranello facility is roughly 12 miles from Modena. Lamborghini made a media statement saying, the production activities “were continuing regularly” at its assembly plant. However, the sportscar manufacturer had to further check with the suppliers to weigh the possibilities of a delay. The statement further said, “There are some minor damages that will be repaired immediately.
On the other hand, there was no official announcement from Ferrari, but Karen Vonder Meulen, a spokesperson from Ferrari North America, confirmed through a telephonic conversation, that production was on track at the Maranello facility.
Ferrari recently inaugurated a Modena-based Museum at Enzo Ferrari’s Birthplace. The place has not registered any significant damage as of now, and the media report listing all the historical structures being effected does not include this museum.
