Listen Up: Everything You Know About Pineapple IS A LIE

    Pineapple, we're getting divorced.

THE PINEAPPLE. So spiky, yet so delicious.

But what if I told you that PINEAPPLE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A SWEET AND TASTY LIE?!

First of all, did you know that 'napples grow on these weird stalky plant thingies?

LOOK! Here's a field of 'em just growing in the weirdest way possible. Nope, not on trees, and not in the ground, but on strange flowering plants.

But that's not even the craziest thing. It turns out that pineapples are actually what's called a multiple fruit. A pineapple is ACTUALLY made up of a bunch of BERRIES fused together.

AHHHHHH! A PINEAPPLE IS MADE UP OF BERRIES.

Per this helpful diagram, you can see that pineapples have a central axis around which a cluster of fruiting flowers form. The plant's ovaries grow into berries which then form the SHAPE OF PINEAPPLE.

(Pssst...Other multiple fruits include mulberries and figs, ahem.)

So why the HEEEECK do we call this lying liar of a delicious fruit a pineapple? Because it looks kind of like a lil' pinecone when it's sprouting.

So please, consider these LIES the next time you're sipping on a refreshing piña colada.
