Luxury Italian design house Dolce & Gabbana just released its latest footwear offerings, which include this colorful sandal.
They're calling it a "slave sandal."
Part of the brand's Spring/Summer 2016 collection, the shoe is available for pre-order for $2,395.
The product description explains that the shoe features a "Sicilian Cartwheel" applique design.
"The shoe has a matching satin insole with logo label and a customized leather sole. The shoes are presented in a red satin dust bag inside an exclusive "Sicilian Cartwheel" print box."
But that description doesn't explain why the sandals are referred to as slave sandals, and people are upset with the brand.
This isn't the brand's first brush with controversy. Its Spring 2013 collection came under fire for its use of Blackamoor imagery in its jewelry.
The images were also employed on the clothing.
And just this past September, D&G angered fashion fans when it sent only Asian models down the runway in its Asian-inspired designs.
