#CocksNotGlocks: Students At UT Protest With Sex Toys

Students at the University of Texas, Austin, are protesting using sex toys in opposition of gun laws which allow guns on campus. BuzzFeed Application

As we all know, gun violence and gun control are huge controversies for the American Government and public. Just weeks after the horrific attacks on police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Dallas, Texas, the state of Texas passed a law that allows licensed students 21 years of age and older to carry a concealed weapon on campus.

Students at UT are in outrage over the new conceal carry law on campus. Guns are now legal at their school, however sex toys such as dildos and vibrators are still prohibited. Thus, they started a protest called "Cocks not Glocks".

Jessica Jin, is the leader of this protest and feels that being able to carry a deadly weapon on campus is absurd. Although a dildo in itself could be absurd to most, Jin said, "We are fighting absurdity with absurdity."

The new law was passed on the 50th anniversary of the University of Austin shooting that took the lives of 14 innocent people before the shooter and former Marine Charles Whitman was gunned down by police after a 90 minute standoff with police. Now that this law has been passed, fears of something like this tragic event occuring again are on the rise.

The students involved in the protest, are not just concerned for their safety, now that the law allows for guns on campus. They are concerned for their education. "Professors don't want to work at a school where they can get shot," said Campus Coordinator Rosie Zander, "So my education is being affected because we can't hire the professors we want at this university."

The protestors against the new gun laws are serious and feel that having a sex toy shouldn't be any less of a right to carry on campus than a gun. A dildo never hurt anyone but there is plenty of proof to show that guns have.
