Should You Hire Jake Poteat?

Jake was once voted "most creative" by his high school senior class. I don't think you can argue with that. He's a forward thinking idea machine who thrives in an environment where he is given the creative freedom to truly innovate.

Do you want a Development Coordinator that thinks outside of the box and inspires others to do the same?

Jake is not a career coordinator. Nor does he want to bounce around through a million different jobs as soon as he gets bored with one. He wants to find a career that will challenge him and make an investment in him; a place where he can grow as a creative.

What kind of candidate are you looking for?

Jake hates people who call themselves funny (wow, such humility amirite??). But he's been told by his mom's best friend Tami that he's a real goofball. So there's that.

What kind of person sounds more appealing for this job?

Are you okay with a candidate who is currently based in New York, but very willing to relocate to Los Angeles?

Something that Jake is very passionate about is writing. He's finishing up his Master's Degree right now at NYU, where he's been doing a concentration in comedy writing for television and new media. He would love the opportunity to put his skills to work at a place like BuzzFeed where writing and editorial are so integral to the brand's success.

How do you feel about a candidate who enjoys writing (and has been told he's decent at it)?

Jake is a fan of the BuzzFeed brand. He reads the articles, he looks at the gifs, and he watches the videos. He wants to help the brand grow its video content and BuzzFeed Motion Pictures division through a mixture of creativity and a healthy dose of strategy.

True or False: You want a candidate who appreciates and understands the BuzzFeed brand.

You might not know it from this quiz, but Jake actually hates to talk about himself. Compliments make him a little uncomfortable and arrogance in others rubs him the wrong way.

Do you value humility?

Jake is used to working at a very fast paced. Being a part of such a small team at FYI taught him the necessity of being able to adapt quickly and to be prepared fill in for others at a moment's notice.

Do you want a candidate that enjoys teamwork?

Do you like normal candidates or weird candidates better?

You're looking for a candidate who is smart, driven, and fun to be around. You like that Jake thinks outside of the box and you appreciate his impressive use of gifs (which he CORRECTLY pronounces like Gift without the T). You realize that Jake is a true creative and the kind of employee that can really think outside of the box and help your business grow. You like that he is interested in business development and has a curious, yet analytical mind.

Yes! You should hire him immediately. Or meet with him first, then hire him. Your call.

You think Jake is a pretty cool dude (and he thinks the same of you) and you really love his use of gifs, but this wouldn't be the logical step for him or the best place for him to put his skills and talent to work. No hard feelings though, you still wanna be his friend (and he's totes okay with that).
