Peter Dutton's Office Was Vandalised Overnight

Queensland Police believes no-one entered the Dickson electorate office, but brick pavers were thrown at the windows.

The office of Liberal MP and potentially Australia's next prime minister Peter Dutton has been vandalised.

Police officers were called out to Dutton's electorate office on Gympie Rd in Strathpine, just north of Brisbane, at about 2:20am on Friday by a member of the public after it is believed pavers were thrown at the windows of the building.

"Four reinforced glass windows and two glass doors were smashed with some of the brick pavers also leaving puncture holes on the walls inside," Queensland Police said in a statement.

No-one managed to get into the office, Queensland Police believe. Police are calling for anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour around the office at the time to contact them.

Dutton is still in Canberra, ahead of an expected Liberal partyroom meeting at 12pm AEST where he will likely run for the leadership of the Liberal party and could replace prime minister Malcolm Turnbull as Australia's 30th prime minister.
