Once a (television) father-son duo, always a father-son duo.
Brian Cox and Kieran Culkin just finished a legendary run on Succession, where Brian played Logan Roy, the patriarch of a media empire and father to four children: Connor (Alan Ruck), Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman, whom Kieran played.
Brian and Kieran shared many scenes together, though several included Kieran’s character being terrified of his father’s wrath. Thankfully, the tricky relationship doesn't seem to have bled off screen.
Kieran recently crashed a photo shoot for Variety's Actors on Actors interview series Brian was participating in with Emily Blunt, and Brian had the sweetest reaction to seeing his former costar and TV son.
Every year, Variety has acclaimed actors interview their peers. This year, Brian and Emily were paired together.
Kieran was evidently at the same venue when Emily and Brian were sitting for photos, because he crashed their shoot. Variety shared the adorable moment on Twitter Friday morning, which was the same day Kieran’s interview with Claire was published.
In very Roman Roy fashion, Kieran hugs Brian before teasing him. “How are you? Are you grumpy today, or are you good?” Kieran asks.
“I am not grumpy,” Brian said after laughing at Kieran’s question.
The video is so sweet, and Kieran can’t get enough of Emily and Brian, hugging them both.
There’s even a funny back-and-forth between Emily and Kieran about his beard, which he called his “unemployed” and “I don’t have to shave for anything” beard.
It’s sad we never got a Succession Season 5, because Emily should absolutely have joined the cast.
