5 Most Memorable Juno Awards Moments Of All-Time

With the 2015 Juno Awards airing this Sunday, live from Hamilton, Ontario, we felt it was appropriate to look back and share some of the all-time greatest moments from the legendary awards show. From Drake’s inspired hosting job in 2011 to Justin Bieber getting booed, the Junos have provided us so many great moments in pop-culture history.

    5. Justin Bieber Getting Booed

Although Bieber has seemingly turned it around this year, appearing on The Ellen Show several times and winning over both her and the internet simultaneously, there was a time when Bieber was a bit out of control and Canadians did not want to be associated with his antics, as proven by this moment from last year’s show when Bieber won the “fan favourite” award and was booed. Not very Canadian, you guys.

    4. Michael Buble's Opening Monologue

Though a crooner your parents might enjoy more than you do, Michael Buble is genuinely talented, and also, surprisingly funny. His introduction from when he hosted the awards in 2013 is chalk full of celebrity cameos and some great delivery on Buble’s part.

    3. Shania's Canadian Music Hall of Fame Induction

Shania Twain is a really big deal, selling millions and millions of albums worldwide. While she is most certainly Canadian and a worldwide success, Shania hasn’t forgotten where she came from and her humble beginnings. This Canadian Hall of Fame Introduction is touching, humble and a reminder of how Shania is still the one (do you see what I did there?)

    2. Drake's Monologue

When it was announced that Drake would be hosting the 2011 Juno Awards, some found this choice questionable. Drake is a superstar of rap, of course, and while a capable actor (Wheelchair Jimmy forever), could he competently host an award show so early in his career? Of course he could, he’s Drake! His introduction is funnier than anticipated and showing how talented Drake really is.

The performances are what makes every awards show worthwhile and k.d. lang proved that in 2005 with her stirring and awe inspiring cover of Leonard Cohen’s classic “Hallelujah”.
