Um, Japan Is Melting

A record-breaking heatwave has sent more than 70,000 people to the hospital this summer.

Japan, you may or may not know, is in the middle of a devastating heatwave.

Since the end of April, over 71,000 people have been hospitalized for heat-related illnesses — and at least 138 of them have died.

In fact, it's so hot that the fake plastic food on display in restaurant windows is literally MELTING.

These plastic matcha lattes in a display case at Oasis 21 in Nagoya began oozing out as the temp inside reached a scorching 140 degrees.

Made from silicone and vinyl chloride, they just couldn't withstand the extreme heat.

Even more surprising is the fact that people were able to photograph the fake food — heat rising from the ground has blurred photos so much that it looks like EVERYTHING is melting.

So, with fake food melted beyond recognition, what are people to do? Cook real food on their cars, I guess.
