Promising review: "There will always be VR 'enthusiasts' with boatloads of money that brag about their bleeding-edge VR headsets (like the Valve Index, which is over three times more expensive than this headset, AND requires a gaming-quality PC to boot). But, in terms of value, there is absolutely nothing better on the market than this headset. Even the previous 64-GB iteration (for the same price) was still great value, so this updated version (which also addresses the facial irritations caused by the old face pads) is a no-brainer. If you have even a HINT of curiosity about getting into the VR world, this is THE headset to get! You won't be disappointed!" —Jennifer

Promising review: "The concept is simple. Pick a card based on difficulty. Set up the board using the diagram on the card. Each block has black dots on the ends to dictate direction. Once set up it is up to the player to figure out how to get the marble from the start to the red finish block. The card has a solution on the back. This is by no means the only solution. The card also shows on the front the color and orientation of the blocks they use for the solution on the back. For Christmas, we spent at least two hours taking turns. The younger kids (6–10) picked the beginners' cards. Teens and adults picked the higher-difficulty cards. One word of caution is to be careful placing the blocks as the board is plastic and the block holders can become deformed or break. Overall a great quick game to add to the collection." —Joe G.

The set comes with 36 playing cards, 264 playing chips, caller's mat and cards, and a storage box. This version is a fun twist on the classic, but instead of calling out numbers, the leader calls out words (there are 46 most-used words), players search their cards for a match and place a red chip on the match. Once a player has covered the spaces on their card needed to win, they call BINGO!
Promising review: "Great beginning reading tool and fun for preschoolers. My 4- year-old granddaughter and I go to the library every weekend. She loves to 'check out' the games in the children's section. This was one that she wanted to play over and over and over. After the third go-round, I noticed that she was beginning to recognize some of the words on her own. That sold me! The minute I got home I purchased the game so she could play it at home. Every time I go over to her house, we play at least one round of this game, and I can tell her reading skills are increasing. And when we go to the library, she STILL wants to check this game out and play it there! The words on these Bingo cards are words that can't be illustrated well — words like 'them,' 'her,' 'go,' 'if' — small, mostly conjunctive words, but essential to reading. This game makes it easy and fun to learn those words. I simply can't praise this game enough." —Molly Harrington

Promising review: "I absolutely love this game. The game play can be simplified to play with younger kids or people who are not intense gamers, but the pattern matching and scoring add enough strategy to keep most puzzle and strategy oriented adults happy. This is always kept in my purse and I've just gifted it to two other people." —L. Roth

Promising review: "This game is hilarious! My family played the game of things for xmas and we nearly died. I could see how things could easily get inappropriate with an intoxicated all-adult group, but I honestly found it way funnier playing with my boyfriend, parents (in their 50s), my super religious 15-year-old sister and my grandmother. We had a riot and I've never seen grammie laugh so hard that she was crying. I would suggest that you keep the group to a moderate size, we played with six and it was perfect. On another occasion (a couple's trip) we played and there were at least 10 of us. I must say at that point it took way too long and people started losing interest. Otherwise, this game is awesome and a good one to bust out during family get togethers or small parties." —Rookie_cookie

Promising review: "My group of friends love game night. We've tried all sorts of games, and when I brought this game out, everyone was skeptical. Now no one wants to play any other game but this one. Super fun! The fact that it comes in a simple deck of cards makes it so easy to carry around and bring to any party occasion just in case. With the different characters you can mix it up so no two games are ever the same. The witch character has truly tested some friendships already. The game also gives you extra cards for you to create your own characters with their own unique roles and powers. We are looking forward to creating some interesting new roles and throwing them in the mix. If you have a loud group of friends, this is the game for you!" —Amazon Customer

Promising review: "If you have any sort of humor in your blood, this is the family game for you. We ordered this game before we left for spring break so we could play when we needed a break from the beach/pool. It did not disappoint in the least. My kids, along with my nieces and nephews (ranging from 6–16) were laughing uncontrollably the entire time. The phrase possibilities are as creative and funny as you can make them. I think my 8-year-old had the best time. He literally said the next morning after our first night of playing that his stomach was sore. If you’re one of those parents who get offended easily you should definitely get this game and learn to loosen up a bit. We need to be able to laugh especially nowadays. And if we can’t do that with our kids, then who can you do that with. Great game and will be recommending it to all of my friends." —Chris

Promising review: "We've had this game for roughly three days now and have played every night since receiving it in the mail. My family has multiple closets full of games and this is our favorite, hands down, better than Pictionary, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Operation, Jenga, Boggle, Scrabble, ConnectFour, Checkers, Chinese Checkers, and Othello combined. Let me be clear: This...game...kicks...BURRITO. First of all, it's simple. You keep five cards in hand at all times and draw from a pile and discard into another as fast as you can, in order to make matching sets. Everyone draws and discards at the same time and usually the game is a giant mess. Second, you throw burritos at each other. You heard me. Occasionally someone draws a set of burrito cards, and then you have to throw burritos at your family members. Sometimes there are tears. Sometimes your daughter gets so angry that she pummels you repeatedly with one of the burritos until her father tells her to stop beating up her mother. Sometimes the dog jumps up and down thinking you are screaming in pain when your are only laughing hysterically as your husband bashes you with a foam burrito. Let me be clear. This is a card game. This is dodge ball. It is the best thing that has happened to our family since the birth of our child." —Light Junkie

Players must imagine the floor is made of lava and their only hope of survival is to spin the color wheel in order to find out which colored foam “safety stone” to jump to, while avoiding touching the floor — because that would mean certain death (aka the player loses).
Recommended for up to six players, ages 5+ (That being said, my 4-year-old understood the game right away and plays it at least once a week).
Promising review: "I purchased this game for my granddaughter's 5th birthday. Right after she opened it, we had to play it. No kidding, we literally played for hours. She just loved the game. It was really fun. The rules are simple and easy to follow. Even the adults had fun playing it. The one aspect of the game that my daughter really liked was the fact that you were standing & moving around, not just sitting. This game would be great for all ages. I could see older children liking it as well." —Book Worm

Promising review: "The best thing about Codenames is that it's infinitely replayable, even if you always play with the same group of people, because of the sheer number of possibilities of combinations of cards and layouts. Add in that the other versions (Disney Codenames, Marvel Codenames, Codenames Deep Undercover, etc.) can be combined with the base game, and you have one that's destined for longevity. I personally love the challenge of trying to be on the same wavelength as my teammates. When things go well, it's satisfying. When things go badly, it's challenging — and often hilarious. I generally play with my friends (late 20s–early 30s), but knew my mom (late 50s) and her friends would love it and got it for her for Christmas, and I was right. Other people I know play with their kids. It's definitely a game with broad appeal." —Ami C.

Here's how you play: deal each player five cards, add ingredients, and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins. But watch out for actions cards like "Tummy Ache," "Food Fight," or the dreaded "Health Inspector" that'll force you to throw all your food in the trash.
Promising review: "This game may have been the concept of a 7-year-old, but his 'development and design team' are obviously game-loving evil geniuses with a maniacal sense of humor. I picked this game for my honorary nephews and upon receipt, I was obligated to participate in the first game. As the 'adult' (eh-hem), I have to confess, I was just as entertained as they were. The action cards and the food cards are hilarious, and it’s kinda hard not to giggle as you draw the next card — poker faces are right out the window. Giggling aside, this game is a fabulous demonstration of entry-level adaptive strategy playing, and even the littlest one picked up on it and 'got it' after a couple of rounds. The materials are sturdy, well packaged, and printed. There's room for more cards in the original box so everyone is anxiously awaiting the second expansion pack!" —Jaime the Brat

Promising review: "My 5-year-old niece loves it! What can be said really? It's a game where you use a toy plunger to make a smiling rubber poop fly through the air to be caught for points. My niece, like many little kids, is going through a phase where anything related to poop is absolutely hilarious, so I thought this game would be just the thing for her. She loves it! The game is very easy to pick up for 4- and 5-year-olds, the components are well-made, and the poop is...oddly realistic, except for its smiling face of course. This is without a doubt the cleanest option for playing with poop on the market. Your kids'll love it." —Brendan Williams

Fredericks and Mae is a queer-owned business that's been offering a variety of visually stunning pieces since 2007. These cards include a sturdy keepsake box with foil stamping and a mini-booklet with interesting history and lore of card decks, game instruction, and information about the artists.
Promising review: "I'm really happy with my purchase. I originally saw this product at the MoMA Design Store in NYC, but I didn't buy it. However, I changed my mind a couple of days later and was glad to discover they were available here. The packaging is a little bit bigger than that of your average deck. However, it's quite sturdy, and the entire deck is well protected inside. The cards are pure eye-candy! They come in a rainbow color scheme, with some interesting symbol arrangements starting the 4 of each suit. Also, the joker cards contrast nicely with the rest of the deck because they're black and white respectively. Inside the box, there's a small booklet that offers some interesting information about the origin of playing cards, as well as the rules for several card games. If you want a deck of cards that will spark up a conversation, this is, without a doubt, an excellent choice!" —Thredith

I absolutely loved the Speak & Spell I had as a kid. I could totally pretend to be Matthew Broderick in WarGames whenever the S&S would talk in that monotone, robot voice. No, this can't compete with a smartphone or tablet or anything else your kid has access to today. But it can take a beating and the lessons it teaches are just as helpful today (I mean, words are still spelled the same, right?). —John Mihaly
Promising review: "I bought this item for my daughter who has played with my 1980s Speak & Spell so much that it has begun to malfunction. My Speak & Spell is still one of the most memorable toys from my childhood. I played and played with that thing. It is what ultimately taught me how to spell the word 'language' 'lang-u-age' and taught me to challenge my mind with brain games. Now I pick up my daughter's for a round or two just to reminisce. Promising review: "Man I love this thing, but my 8-= and 6-year-old sons love it even more. We’re those parents who are a little fanatic about 'screen time' with our kids. Let me tell you something, MOST of the time is spent with the kids building their game. The markers, paper, and most importantly their imaginations of drawing new games are 90% of the fun because they know that their drawing will eventually ~come to life~ on the iPad. It sounds unbelievable, but it’s true. The different colors are used to create different things that the game automatically recognizes on paper — e.g., use 'red' to draw hazards; use 'green' to make your character that can move, etc. My boys draw anything and, like magic, the screen brings it to life and the remaining 10% blows their little minds (and the parents minds, too). Not really sure how it works, but we have a giant notebook full of different drawings and games, two boys who can’t stop using it, and two parents who are totally OK with this kind of 'screen time.'" —Lil

Game came less than 24 hours after ordering and we've already played five games in the last 48 hours. BIG hit with the whole family and both kids (ages 7 and 16, for reference). Promising review: "This game is hilarious! I had no clue it would be this awesome. The game plays a bit like Uno...where you want to run out of cards, and the wrong move could make it so you get more cards. Basically a toilet card is flipped that has a number on it. (Example, 12) That is the number of poops that will clog the toilet. You then take turns playing cards with poop with numbers on them. You cannot go over the 'toilet number' though, so you can really screw people over. Example, if poop cards total up to 11, and the toilet clogs at 12, then you have to have a 'skip' card or a card that is just a fart and not a poop since you can't hit 12. If you don't have one of those you don't have an option but to clog the toilet, and you have to take all the cards. This is a funny game for young kids, easy to play, and the poop pictures are so funny. Some have flies, corn kernels, stink lines, etc. Bonus: There are alternate rule sets that come with this if you want to make it an adult drinking game. How cool is that?!?" —Grasshopper021
