I Made Frose And Damn If It Didn't Live Up To The Hype

    RE: BUZZFEED APPLICATION

Summer '16 has been a busy season, one which has revealed to us Bill Clinton's love of balloons, Michael Phelps's serious as fuck fight face, and undeniable proof that who run the world? girls.

Perhaps that's a simplification, as it's also been a time of domestic and international political turmoil, but if it seems like I'm looking at the past few months through rose colored glasses, it's because this summer has also encouraged the continuous and habitual drinking of rose in as many forms as humanely possible.

Not content to leave well enough alone, the perfectly delightful chilled glass of rose wine has, in the hands of social media addled millennials, become a lifeblood of sorts. It fuels our hazy summer nights and our YAS KWEEN bachelorette parties; a #sundayfunday pool day is nothing without it.

Being a social media addled mil myself, I'm all about it, and so when the even more IG-worthy froze burst on the scene, my body was ready.

    Things I learned:

-We should all be using frozen watermelon instead of ice cubes in all our summer beverages

-Filling up a wine glass to the top with a wine slushy is not the same thing as drinking a glass of wine

-Three adults with nothing to do and nowhere to be can go through five bottles of wine shockingly quick

There are lots of variations on frose out there, but every recipe follows the same basic formula: 3-4 cups of frozen fruit (watermelon cubes frozen until solid or a combo of frozen berries works best), a bottle of rose, and fresh lime juice, blended until you reach a slurpee-like consistency. Depending on how thick you want it/how frozen your fruit is to begin, you may need to add a couple of cups of actual ice cubes, and for tarter fruits like raspberries, adding a squeeze of honey makes a big difference.

Now go forth into the last few weeks of summer, and live your best damn life.
