Brown said that television broadcasters would prefer a later time slot in order to capture a greater audience.
"It will be a twilight Grand Final at some stage because Channel 7 will keep demanding it because of the amount of money they pay for the TV rights and the AFL want as much money as they possible can," he said.
"It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when."
Current Collingwood FC President Eddie McGuire agrees with Brown, saying it is a "bleedingly obvious" solution to the AFL's entertainment problems.
Brown and McGuire aren't alone in their pursuit of a night-time GF.
But Channel 7's coverage of the 2015 AFL Grand Final was the highest rating program of the year. 2.64 million people tuned in to watch Hawthorn defeat the West Coast Eagles.
Maybe there was something else the AFL could take from the Super Bowl…
No offence Meatloaf.
