9 Announcements Made At TCA About The Upcoming TV Season.

All the major networks gathered at the TCA press tour this past week to discuss the fall season. Here's what they announced about some of your favorite returning series, and some new shows to put on the watch list.

1. It's Simpsons all the way down.

FX gave more details on just how exactly it plans to flood the world with more Simpsons, both online and on TV. The Homerpalooza will begin with a marathon of the entire Simpsons oeuvre, beginning on August 21st and ending September 1st. FX also announced that it will be doing another marathon for Halloween, as well as whenever they need to fill up some time on a channel that still has a lot of time to fill.

On top of that, SimpsonsWorld.com will go live some time in October, allowing you to watch the Simpsons 24 hours a day 7 days a week, if you should so choose. And why wouldn't you?

2. Mary Crawley will infuriate you once again this January.

PBS announced that it will air the fifth season of Dame Maggie Smith Tells It Like It Is starting January 4th.

This means that while iTV will air Downton Abbey in the fall of this year, the American fanbase (or those who couldn't be bothered to find it online, anyway) will have to wait until the new year to find out what other miseries Anna Bates will be subjected to.

3. Shonda Rhimes owns Thursday night.

Shonda Rhimes can do no wrong on ABC. Aside from continuing to head Grey's Anatomy and the mega-hit, Scandal, she will also be producing the new ABC show, How To Get Away With Murder.

The show — created by Pete Norwalk, who wrote for both of the aforementioned series — centers around a law professor, played by Viola Davis, who teaches a class of the same name. The lessons turn out to be much more applicable in real life than student or teacher could hope for.

With a stellar lead actress and the team behind two of ABC's biggest shows, there's a good chance this will become ABC's next big thing.

4. You won't need to wait two years for more Louie.

Much like Curbed Your Enthusiasm on HBO, the likelihood of Louie coming back seems very much reliant on whether or not its creator feels like it.

Thankfully for fans, the show will be back with seven brand new episodes in the spring of 2015. Presumably they will be about whatever the hell Louis CK wants them to be about.

5. Fargo will also be back. Way back.

FX also talked more about the second season of the acclaimed drama series, Fargo, starring Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, Billy Bob Thornton and Colin Hanks; except without all those people.

The series will move to Sioux Falls and step back in time to the 1970's. Not much is known about the plot other than it will feature the father of Detective Molly Solverson; a role which will definitely not be played by Keith Carradine.

6. Supernatural will never die.

The CW may have struggled last year to find an audience for its newer shows, but its longest running series, Supernatural, is still going strong.

While introducing other promising new shows that probably won't last past a season, such as Jane the Virgin, CW also took the time to reiterate that it doesn't see any reason Supernatural couldn't go on for several more years.

There was, however, no comment about whether its two stars will ever actually drop the charade and just get down and dirty already.

7. There's more to Gotham than just that guy dressed like a bat.

More details were given on Fox's new take on the Batman myth, and one thing is for certain: don't expect to see Batman any time soon.

Executive Producer Bruno Heller emphasized that the show would center around a young Commissioner Gordon, and build the mythology of the Batman universe around him. While the show will feature a very young Bruce Wayne, there are no plans to bring in Batsy himself.

Heller was quoted as saying, "It's mythology in the true sense of the word. Many stories can be told, but not all of them can be true with each other. We won't break the canonical truth of the Batman stories, but we'll play with issues of chronology."

The show will feature as the lead-in to Sleepy Hollow.

8. Fox is hoping Mulaney will be its next big comedy hit.

The Fox sitcom Mulaney has already had its share of ups-and-downs. Developed at NBC, the show picked up a lot of buzz among critics. However, this love turned out not to be shared by NBC and they declined to pick it up.

Luckily, it looks to be back up and running as a possible crown jewel in Fox's Sunday night lineup.

The show has garnered comparisons to Seinfeld in its format — a multi-cam sitcom where bits of John Mulaney's standup act are sprinkled throughout — but the humor is reported to be very much John Mulaney's own.

9. Christopher Walken will try to murder a child while dancing.

The Sound of Music turned out to be a big enough hit for NBC that they plan to do it again; this time with everyone's favorite flying kidnapper. The broadway musical version of Peter Pan will feature a tap-dancing Captain Hook, played by Christopher Walken.

No word yet on who will play Pan, but NBC looks to continue the tradition made famous by Mary Martin and cast a woman in the part of the perpetual child.

Presumably, Walken will also take over the title of "Sexiest Captain Hook on Television" from current holder, Colin O'Donoghue.
