In 2011 David Cameron pledged a "profound apology" if it emerged Andy Coulson, his former Director of Communications, knew about phone hacking. Today Coulson was found guilty by a jury.
This is what the Prime Minister said at the time:
I have an old-fashioned view about innocent until proven guilty, but if it turns out that I have been lied to, that would be the moment for a profound apology. In that event, I can tell you that I will not fall short.
