Michael Gove Was Introduced As A Fan Of "Real Ale And Real Women" On A TV Quiz Show

    The future education secretary appeared on "Top Club" in the 1990s.

    BBC's Newsnight has unearthed footage of Michael Gove appearing on a Scottish quiz show. He gets quite an introduction.

    "Top Club" went out on Grampian TV, the regional ITV station for the far north of Scotland.

    Gove, who grew up in Aberdeen, began his career as a journalist on the city's Press & Journal newspaper and appeared on the show on a team consisting of journalists.

    Gove wasn't averse to the camera in the 1990s. He also made a cameo as a school chaplain in a Christopher Lee film.
