A special live camera captures all the cuteness!

A tawny owl family with three little owlets were filmed by the Russian Raptor Research and Conservation Network with an Oco Camera, a smart surveillance camera with cloud recording, for a rare chance to watch them grow and learn to eat and play!

The owl family was filmed in the Nizhny Novgorod Striginskom forest in Russia. The live feed captured the babies from the moment they hatched to when they were old enough to leave the nest and venture into the world.

The Oco Camera is small and unobtrusive to the owls' nesting environment. It also has a powerful night vision feature, to film the owls in all their nocturnal glory.

Tawny owls nest in tree holes or nest boxes around the woodlands of Europe. They're known for their distinctive hoots and vocalizations.

The tawny owl diet ranges from small mammals, lizards, to worms and small birds.

Tawny owls are mainly nocturnal, and their asymmetrically placed ears are key to hunting in the dark.

The species is fiercely defensive of their young, and will strike with its sharp talons and beak.

The owlets stay with their parents till two to three months of age. They leave the nest right before fledging to take on the world!
