Clothing Company Uses Female Ph.D.s Instead Of Regular Models

1. Instead of using models to show its new spring collection, the San Francisco-based clothing company Betabrand decided to put women with doctorates in front of the camera.

Says Betabrand founder Chris Lindland, “When you look beyond the ranks of the professionally beautiful, photography becomes a lot more fun.”

3. To find the women, the company sent out a casting call on social media; 60 Ph.D.s and doctoral candidates replied.

9. Lindland says, “Our designers cooked up a collection of smart fashions for spring, so why not display them on the bodies of women with really big brains?”

10. You might also remember Betabrand’s groundbreaking dress sweatpants.
