Café Route (Dalston Junction)

Never failing to disappoint, Café Route, is my go-to place for any meal of the day, in the newly developed Dalston Square. Whilst the interior is everything you’d expect from a café in the epicentre of the hipster world, the menu is not pretentious in any way and as a result, the food is simple yet superb.

I’d go for: poached eggs on artisan bread with crushed avocado.

Breads Etcetra (Brixton)

If you’re not too hungry to queue, Breads Etcetra boasts a fantastic selection of baked eggs. Mixed with a variety of cheeses and/or meats and cooked in ramekins, they make for a great warming way to enjoy eggs. Cook your toast however you want it with the on-the-table toasters and to battle the cold Brixton breeze, they even provide you with blankets.

I’d go for: baked eggs with salmon and feta cheese.

The Lido Café (Herne Hill)

Watch the waters as you enjoy your eggs in the tiny, but by no means disappointing, café at Brockwell Lido. Serving a range of classic breakfasts and teas, this cute little spot is perfect for long summer brunches that make you almost believe you're outside of London. Decent-sized portions and super friendly staff.

I'd go for: Vegetarian full English.

Workshop (Farringdon)

Whilst originally famous for their coffees, you’ll be utterly spoilt for choice at this joint in Farringdon, with their larger-than-life breakfasts and brunches. The menu size is almost intimidating, but the selection is remarkable. With interesting egg accompaniments, such as corn bread, truffled mascarpone, sweet potato cake and wasabi (although not all on one plate), there’s enough different things to try to persuade you to go back again and again.

I’d go for: grilled asparagus with a side of halloumi.

Duck Egg Café (Brixton)

Ready to take eggs to the next level? Then check out Duck Egg Café in Brixton where you can mix it up and have any of their breakfasts served with either hen eggs or duck eggs. Go for the duck eggs – they’re larger, creamier and more filling than ‘normal’ eggs. Competing against the barrage of breakfast joints in Brixton Village, Duck Egg Café doesn’t try to be a fancy place; instead its focus is on good quality food for the egg lover that wants something a bit different.

I'd go for: duck egg royale with a side of avocado cubes.

New London Cafe (Highbury & Islington)

Tucked away a short walk from Highbury & Islington station, New London Cafe has a cute outdoor seating area where you can hide away from noisy North London. Offering a selection of classic and mix-and-match breakfasts, it’s their beef sausages that rockets this yuppie-establishment into my top six.

I’d go for: scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and beef sausages.
