Real

Atlanta Thrashers 1997–2011. If you look hard enough, you can find Evander Kane in a Thrashers sweater.

EA Sports would always feature the Tiburon Sharks as an option in EA Madden's Create-a-Team feature.

Fake

Five-time NFL Champions, the O.G. team of the NFL lasted only seven seasons...their last being in 1927.

A lot of sun-related teams, but the real defunct Miami team in the WNBA was called "Sol," and they folded in 2002.

Aye, the Mutiny! Shockingly, a real MLS team that only lasted from 1994–2002.

However, the Premier Lacrosse League is a legitimate league.

The Boston Breakers ceased operations in 2018.

A short-lived run in the CFL, the Renegades only lasted four seasons...folding officially in 2008.

Basketball was created in Springfield, Massachusetts by James Naismith, but they never had a team associated within the NBA.
