A Clip Of "Jeopardy" Contestant Sam Buttrey Talking About Missing Out On A "Titanic" Submersible Tour Has Gone Viral In Light Of This Week's News

"It sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity..."

In case you haven't been following the news, an OceanGate Expeditions deep sea submersible set to tour the Titanic wreckage went missing on Sunday with five passengers on board.

In light of the news, a clip from the Jeopardy Masters tournament that aired in May has gone viral because of a now extremely eerie anecdote shared by contestant Sam Buttrey.

    A closeup of Sam

As one of his Jeopardy anecdotes during the tournament, Sam shared that he was actually supposed to go on a tour of the Titanic wreckage himself — a story which host Ken Jennings called a "pretty good nautical story."

Ken says you went to your own son's wedding but at great cost

"I have a friend who operates a company that will take you out to the wreck of the Titanic," he shared with Ken.

"So you go out in a boat, and then you go down in a submersible craft and tour the wreckage. It sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but through a miracle of bad timing, my son John and daughter-in-law Caitlin were getting married that weekend."

"I was very happy to go there. It was a beautiful wedding, and not a shred of regret in my life."

Honestly, pretty chilling stuff. Here's the full clip of Sam telling the story in his own words.
