Everyone Is Traumatized By Mufasa's Death In "The Lion King" All Over Again

I can't believe I put myself through this AGAIN.

Mufasa is one of the best dads in Disney canon/movie history, and it's fair to say his death halfway through The Lion King traumatized a whole generation.

He died in the most BRUTAL way, too – murdered by his brother, with his own heroism and love for his son turned against him.

Just to make it hurt even more, we then had to watch as young Simba confronted his dad's dead body – and SNUGGLED UP INTO IT while begging him to get up.

So when I heard Disney was doing a live action remake of The Lion King, my first thought was "NOPE", because I felt like I couldn't watch Mufasa die all over again.

And I certainly wasn't the only one.

the lion king is really going to make me relive the trauma of my childhood that was mufasa's death

When you realize you gotta watch Mufasa die all over again #TheLionKing

I’m lowkey not ready to watch Mufasa die again though....

But of course, we all willingly put ourselves through it.

Me crying in the movie theater knowing Mufasa was going to die.

When I knew Mufasa was going to die and I told myself I wasn’t going to cry but I obviously cried. #LionKing

And it was just as brutal as ever.

when you’re watching #TheLionKing and you know the scene where Mufasa dies is next

Me, a 22-year-old, sitting in the theatre watching Mufasa’s death even though I knew it was coming: #LionKing

In fact...it might have been even harder to watch this time around?

mufasa's death hurts more in live action #TheLionKing

scar: *still kills Mufasa in The Lion King (2019)* me:

I really watched Mufasa die 2 times..

Why does being an adult somehow make it hurt even more?

I thought I was emotionally ready for Mufasa’s death now that I’m grown... But naw #LionKing

I think watching Mufasa die as an adult was even worse than when I was a kid.

this was my clown ass knowing mufasa was gonna die years in advance but still ended up crying in the movie theater

    The photorealism definitely didn't help.

#TheLionKing me watching Mufasa die in HD:

Bro.... Watching Mufasa die in 3D hurt more then my first heartbreak

We're really never going to get over this.

#TheLionKing Me, before and after I saw Mufasa die, AGAIN.

But spare a thought for the next generation, experiencing it for the VERY FIRST TIME.

That shit hurts at any age.

9 yr old me vs 22 yr watching Mufasa die and Simba cuddle up to him
