It's time to break out of your suburb bubble.
Get an Uber over to Glebe and get a coffee (or an ice cream) at Tramsheds. Then walk around to the waterfront and follow the path along the harbour. Sure, you've done the Bondi to Bronte walk about a billion times, but the Blackwattle Bay walk is way more chill and might just become your new fave spot. You'll be greeted with views of the Anzac bridge and Sydney skyline. Plus, you'll be sharing the path with heaps of dogs so make sure you stop and say hello.
Once you finish your walk near the Fish Market, head over to the Central Park complex at Chippendale. They have heaps of food options, but you should definitely check out Tonda, where you can pick up some mini pizzas. Take them down to the grassy area and chill in the sun while you eat lunch. Even if that fills you up, I'm sure you'll sill have room for ice cream, right? Anita Gelato has some of the best gelato in the city, plus a frozen yoghurt station with every topping you could dream of.
If you've been to the MCA more times than you can count, this time saunter over to Chippendale and lose yourself in this contemporary Chinese art gallery for an hour or two. It's got a mix of paintings, sculptures, films and photography. Plus they've got a cute-ass gift shop and a little cafe to chill in afterward. Make sure you try their homemade lychee iced tea, along with a serve of dumplings.
Everyone loves a good G&T on a summer afternoon. Poor Toms in Marrickville is a tiny distillery that also opens its doors as a bar on weekends. It's a beautiful space, where you can taste their different gins or just have some cocktails. Pick up a cute bottle or two if you really love it.
Instead of just going to the pub or heading out for dinner, do something completely different and book into a workshop for the evening. Class Bento has a list of different classes so you can choose what you're into: pottery, watercolour, candle-making, a cocktail masterclass. We tried a terrarium-making class at Merchant & Green, and went home with our own personalised mini-gardens!
When it gets to 10pm and you need to find some food in the city, it's usually a kebab or Macca's right? Well there's a little Thai restaurant, @Bangkok, in Haymarket, which is open until 2am and is a much better option. Steer clear of the predictable option of pad Thai, and instead go for their delicious Massaman curry, or Thai-style noodle soup, or fried rice served in a pineapple. Make sure you get dessert: their coconut dumplings are incredible.
