Here's The Only Indie Pop Group That Matters Right Now

    You're welcome.

Their name is MisterWives and they're awesome.

Sound familiar? The group's name is a gender-flipped play on 'sisterwives,' the term for the 19th-century Mormon practice of polygamy. As lead singer Amanda "Mandy" Lee explains, "Instead of a man marrying a bunch of women and them all becoming friends, we reversed the genders. So basically, I married all the guys and they became friends."

Or maybe the name sounds familiar because you've already heard their infectious track, "Reflections" (also the name of their debut EP).

The New York-based band formed with three hopefuls in late 2012, eventually expanding to include its current five members: lead vocalist Mandy Lee, drummer Etienne Bowler, bassist William Hehir, Marc Campbell on the guitar, and Jesse Blum doing a little bit of everythang.

After signing with indie label Photo Finish Records in 2013, MisterWives went on to release their debut EP, Reflections, on January 7, 2014. The EP includes 6 songs and has now sold over 20,000 copies. One song, "Vagabond," quickly gained recognition when it was made the opening theme of the MTV Teen Drama, Finding Carter.

MisterWives released their first official album, Our Own House, on February 24, 2015, and kicked off their tour with BøRNS and Handsome Ghost two days later.

Their sound is sublime - with a unique blend of indie, pop, electric, and a distinct 80s undertone. Think: Panama Wedding and Smallpools meets the vocals of Of Monsters and Men and Echosmith. They galvanize the troops with a consistently palpable energy and animated lyrics that defy the pop genre.

They've also done some pretty dope covers. Like this Hall & Oates one. Or this unbelievable Drake cover. Or this version of Riptide they performed for Spotify.
