2015 Google I/O Stream: How To Be Part Of The Google I/O Magic?

As the 2015 Goggle I/O is around the corner, seizing San Francisco's Moscone Center from May 28 - May 29, are you prepared as I am to take part in this global feast for an in-depth and immersive experience with technology/mobile/concepts of next generation at your feet? Let’s get warmed up first.
Annual Google I/O is not merely a conference for software developers gathering together, it plays an important role in releasing new products/innovations and setting out new strategies for further development. Previously in the 2014 Google I/O, cross-platform products like Android L, Android TV, Andriod Wearables and Android Auto were released, together with pilot projects like Project Ara and Project Tango. Then this year, what will Google I/O surprise us with and where will it lead us to? Better Android and Chrome OS? Catchier Android Wear and Google Glass? Smarter self-driving cars? All possible here!
Schedule and Categories
As usual, Sundar Pichai will start with a kickoff on Day 1 in the keynote room, which will be live streamed at Google I/O 2015 website beginning at 9:30am PT/5:30pm GMT. Many products and platform innovations will be shared here, so, for seeking development opportunities, you’d better grab a pen and take notes (I always do that seemingly silly thing, but really helpful in collecting thoughts).
For those able or unable to attend, Google provides detailed schedules and 2015 Google I/O live streams for you to confirm timings or watch online. There are many categories you can choose, ranging from micro views (What’s Next) to sessions and talks (sessions, sandbox talks) and to detailed development orientations (Android, Auto, Games, Tool&APIs).
4 Ways to Take Part in the Google I/O:
1.For lottery winners, you can attend the meeting from May 28 – 29 at Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco;
2.You can also attend or tune in the I/O extended event locally at your place;
3.Or, you can watch 2015 Google I/O live stream if you are lucky having the time. But sadly, not all events are live streamed. Arrange your time wisely.
4.At worst, you still can watch YouTube recordings of all sessions afterwards in your spare time since Google and YouTube will provide recordings.
For me, a lottery loser, the first option is too far to reach and the 4th option would suit me most. So, I assume I might just download those sessions on my Windows Vista laptop and curl up on sofa to watch the 2015 Google I/O recording when I’m off work.
Tips on Watching 2015 Google I/O Streams:
For my experience, if your local internet speed is as crap as mine (well, hopefully much faster), the free 5KPlayer would be a lovely buddy to help download those session recordings from YouTube or Google io website with a given URL. And the bonus is that it supports AirPlay! For both Mac version and Windows version. So I never worry about friends coming along watching with me, as it can help get 2015 Google I/O streamed seamlessly to big HDTV without any internet disturbing.
Predictions on 2015 Google I/O Focuses:
Android M and Android L 5.2
Rumor says that Google plans to announce Android M during 2015 conference. But if so, it seems that they are jumping too quickly from its released Android Lollipop(5.0/5.1) to the next stage – Android M(6.0 “Mints”?). For most Android users like us, we actually expect step-by-step upgrading of systems that really sorts out bugs on a weekly/monthly basis rather than skips them behind.
So, it’s more possible and reasonable that the two updates 5.2 and “Mints” will be released successively on the conference and at the year-end.
Project Ara and Project Tango
Project Ara pushes the Google module phone to the leading edge of this conference. How can this phone really get to work with so many parts imprinted with your photos or of smaller screens? Can we get one on the conference? Although Project Ara now has its own developer conference, it will somehow give us news of their developments.
To make tablets actually sense and understand the physical world, there’ still a long way to go for the “Project Tango” team ATAP. They need time to make great break through after the first showing-off of the prototype of a Tango tablet in 2014. Thus, it seems that we may not get any tremendous news concerning Project Tango.
VR Explorations:
*Further Development Based on Cardboard
At the Google I/O conference 2014, Google gives out Cardboards as presents, and till now, the cardboard has already reached a sales record of over 500,000. Will this “20% Time” Innovation project get a further elevation? Or reproducing a pair of less money-privacy-offensive Google Glass combined with Cardboard? Since IT tycoons like Microsoft, Samsung, Sonny and Intel are stepping in the field of VR/VA, Google won’t lag behind. Google has been setting stage for this VR viewer for some time like providing apps for Cardboard, and in 2015 Google I/O, it has arranged a session called “Make believe” for this VR all-round exploration.
*Further Development with Android Applications
The “Designing for VR” session description reveals the fact that Google is striving to work on virtual reality and its related Android applications. VR apps for Google Cardboard like Titans of Space, The North Face, Sister have already come out for your entertainment, but how can VR infiltrate in our life thoroughly? We are expecting more VR prototypes and more Android VR applications.
Android Wear and Wearables
Last year, Google presented us with an Android Wear compatible smartwatch, but unfortunately, they did not make smartwatches of their own. It is highly possible that this year Google will release a self-made watch supporting upgraded Android Wear. But what would it be like? A module Nexus smartwatch with many screens and cameras? An area learning and motion tracking smartwatch? Or a 3D hologram protector integrated Nexus watch? Please, surprise us!
Google Wallet
Since Apple storms the field of mobile payment with its Apply Pay, Google wallet, which is way earlier than Apple Pay, won’t just sit there and await its doom. Hope they upgrade access to more countries with more features to draw our attentions.
Silver Phone
Source says that Google has the attempt to replace Nexus family with a higher-end Silver lineup, which would have been released in Feb. 2015, but still hasn’t. It’s really likely that this brand new phone will be shown on the I/O conference.
Android Auto
It would be very exciting to see the Google self-driving cars get upgraded, esp. the self-driving prototype’s test result in California, if the result is out. Two sessions are on schedule that will talk about developing Android Auto app and getting better designing for driving.
Android Home
Google also puts great effort on Smart Home with Nest. See what they are going to do to make your house a more thoughtful home! Digging Google cast, virtual reality playback and mobile games in the living room, or more comprehensive remote controls.
Android TV
Worked together with Google Cast and Google Play, Android TV is really like to be in the I/O as an unstoppable tide that may invade every one’s living room. TV set with Android TV built-in will become a trend for most television developers.
Chromecast 2 or Upgraded Nexus Player
It is reported that Google has been developing the Chromecast 2 for some time. Besides, they have also released the first generation of Nexus Player in 2014, the most powerful and functional family entertainment product ever announced by far. It’s very likely that Chromecast 2 or this Nexus Player’s upgraded version being brought to the conference. Media player software like VLC, KMPlayer, Divxplayer, 5KPlayer, PotPlayer should really give a serious thought on them for better development.
