It's not that you dislike affection and emotional connection, you just don't like it as much as a dog does, and you prefer it on your own terms. You fear being smothered or trapped. Your natural reflex for solitude can be difficult for your partner not to take personally and can make them more clingy – the opposite of what you want. Free advice if in a relationship: work towards being more of an affectionate indoor cat. In other words, don't leave for three days (like an outdoor cat) and randomly show up for dinner and expect your partner to be OK with it.

You love affection and emotional connection and are extremely loyal – a true best friend. You may sometimes fear that your partner may not want the same as you, or that you can be too much. Your natural reflex to pursue connection can cause you to forget to take care of yourself, and become preoccupied with your partner. This may cause your partner seek more distance – the opposite of what you want. Free advice if in a relationships: practice self-care and teach and help your partner with your wants. Be your own best friend, value comes from within.

You are able to incorporate the best parts of a cat (autonomy, self-reliance) and dog (connection, loyalty) in relationships. You are able to balance autonomy and connection and you don't over rely on one.
