    1. He was born and educated in New York City, holding a BA from NYU and a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University.

    2. He's no stranger to New York municipal government: he served as a member of the New York City Council from 2002 to 2009 and as the New York City Public Advocate since 2010.

    3. He lives in #Brooklyn.

    4. During his time in office, he raised over $100 million for early childhood education.

    5. Bill created the Landlord Watch List (2010), an online forum for tracking irresponsible and/or evil New York City landlords.

    6. Mayor de Blasio helped pass the HIV/AIDS Housing Services Law, generating more housing opportunities for low income New Yorkers living with HIV.

    8. He supported the Benefits Translation for Immigrants Law, providing non-English speakers with free language translation services.
