Do you know what it means to be foxed? And who would you call a rake? You may have watched all of Bridgerton, but these Regency slang terms will probably still stump you. So it's time to put your knowledge to the test: can you pass this quiz and guess what all these slang terms actually mean?

  1. Let's start off easy. What's a rake?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

A rake is a man prone to immoral conduct! Or as the Bridgerton cast says, Simon Basset.

  2. Now, what do you think a ladybird is?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

A ladybird is another term for a mistress! Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony, was the only one able to guess this correctly.

  4. What does it mean to cock up one's toes?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

To cock up one's toes means to die! Unsurprisingly, it's the genius Queen Golda Rosheuvel who figured this out, much to Jonathan Bailey (Anthony) and Luke Thompson's (Benedict) shock.

  5. What does it mean to be foxed?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

Foxed means drunk! Use it next time you have a drink or two with friends and see if they know what you mean.

  6. Finally, what is a diamond of the first water?

    Correct!
    Wrong!

A diamond of the first water is a very beautiful woman. Or, in Bridgerton's case, Daphne.

If you haven't already watched Bridgerton, head over to Netflix to check it out. In the meantime, please enjoy this image of Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, as he describes what he thinks "foxed" means.

I'm not exactly sure what he's doing, but I absolutely love it.
