1. Resentment of your home

You feel incredibly homesick when you get home, mostly due to the lack of responsibility you had and the lack of fun things in your hometown.

You just really miss the awesomeness that was the country you stayed in. You miss the culture, people, accents, and just the country in general. Leaving is hard.

3. Your friends and family will hate you

They will literally roll their eyes when you mention the place you went. Sometimes, they will leave a conversation if you mention your time abroad. Talk about rude!

4. You pick up language and phrases

You will pick up (and use) some of the native lingo from where you studied. Like "flat" and "chips" (meaning fries) and a plethora of others. Your friends and family will also give you dirty looks when you used these phrases and words. They just don't get you.

5. Your social life declines when you go home

These are lifelong friends that won't get mad at you for how much you miss the country you were in and can recall crazy stories with every day. They are the people who you bond with on a level that no one can replace or reproduce in any other setting. They just get you.
