If you're a fashion kid, then you probably know Kahlana Barfield Brown. She's not only a style icon, but the fashion and beauty editor has literally ushered in a new wave of influencer marketing and business goals for Black and Brown girls.
Well, Barfield Brown — who climbed the editorial ranks of InStyle Magazine and went out on her own in 2018 — is now adding new titles on her resumé. Perhaps, lash innovator?
If you're like ME, lashes can feel pretty daunting — but we also can't deny how they pull a makeup look together! "Finding the right lash has always been challenging for me because they’re usually either too outrageous or too conservative — it’s hard to find something in-between," Barfield Brown told BuzzFeed.
So of course, when we found out that Barfield Brown had partnered with THEE Huda Beauty on a lash, y'all know I had to get my bearings. Personally, I love how natural they are, especially since I'm a girl on the go.
According to a press release, the Kahlana #21 Lashes are described as "classic lashes [that] gently elongate the appearance of the eyes accentuating your naturally flawless features."
"Lashes are definitely a simple way to quickly up your look," Barfield Brown told us. "I’m a busy mom and always on-the-go. I need something that makes me look like I’m not tired — even though I am!"
On the collaboration, Huda Kattan — founder of Huda Beauty — said, "Kahlana is killing it! She was the perfect person to collaborate with on a beautifully-elegant, yet edgy and cool every day lash. As a beauty director and fashion icon, we insisted on creating a lash together that worked for the hectic daytime schedule of an editor, but could easily transform into something elegant enough for evening events and galas."
So, why is this praiseworthy? Even with progress, there are STILL not that many Black influencers in the space who are able to reach certain demographics and have access to resources for mega-success. Systemic inequality still happens in the fashion and beauty space, so when opportunities allow for people to grow and blossom, it's amazing to see. Congratulations to Kahlana and Huda Beauty for an amazing new lash!
