HQ Trivia Doesn't Need A Chat Feature

We get it, Scott's in jail. He's never coming back. Get over it.

By now so many of us have heard of the popular mobile game where players answer trivia questions to win cash. It's great, fun, challenging, and worth it if you can make it to the end. We all want to win because it's basically free money no matter if it's 10 cents, 10 dollars, or 10 thousand! However, as cool HQ Trivia is, we definitely do not need the chat feature.

Yeah, I know what you're saying, "hey, quit complaining and swipe that chat away." And you're right, I barely take a look at it but when I do or someone does want to take a look all they see is a complete wall of toxicity. It's not very flattering and surely doesn't reflect the entirety of the player base. But it's a problem and it pops up in a variety of ways.

I've found just a small number of samples to show how terrible a place the chat can be. Referencing glitches or misspellings is one of the chatroom's favorite things to bring up. It happens all the time and for no reason. There was something spelled wrong and it's just become some meme now. Maybe it's a fun, little inside joke some people have but it's not creative to see everybody doing the same thing. Honestly, it's more spammy than actually giving some constructive criticism.

Others are downright creepy and uncalled for. In this day and age we hide behind screens and usernames for anonymity like it will protect you from being a complete jerk. But HQ Trivia is able to kick players out of the game and have done so for those acting inappropriately. Next time, think about what you're going to say. Better yet, don't say it at all.

But many are just complaints about how much the game is considered, in their words, garbage. If someone doesn't understand the theme of the night they blame the game and not themselves. The example shows someone playing a law-themed game with part of the username having to do somehow with the law! How petty of a person can you be to trash a free game which gives away money just because you didn't make it to the next round? Sore losers are a thing and it's rampant in this app. Some typos have occurred but if an error on HQ's end is so severe they compensate players with some free lives and other goodies. Most of the time you just make yourself look silly trying to correct them.

The chat should be used as a tool for the developers and producers to see what is going wrong. A number of players contribute to that and sometimes it helps. But clogging the chat with useless posts severely impacts how they do their jobs and how others play the game. The average users are not rocket scientists or valedictorians, so of course there's reason to be upset. But don't let it get to you, there's always the next day. And Sports, Trivia, and Words means three different games to play you have plenty of chances.

Luckily, there are players in the chat trying to calm everyone down a bit. It's never going to work but it's very much appreciated. Fans are supposed to show support in the games or hobbies they are interested in, not bash them. It seems when you mess with someone's potential money there's just a different kind of beast that comes out. All I'm saying is yes, swipe it away, don't ever open it, and maybe one day it'll be gone for good.
