What TV/Movie Roles Were So Perfectly Portrayed By An Actor That You’re Convinced Literally No One Else Could Have Done It?

Anyone who thinks another actor could have played Elle Woods in Legally Blonde is seriously disturbed.

One of the most important parts of a TV show or movie is casting.

Finding the right actors to play the right roles is truly an art. And every once in awhile, a performer steps into a character, and it feels like they, and they alone, are the only one who could ever play the part.

Like Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars.

Carrie and Leia are basically synonymous because she made that role entirely her own. Carrie's wit, charm, depth, and confidence made Leia into an icon that continues to stand the test of time, and I can't think of a single other actor who could have done the role proper justice.

Or more recently, Janelle James as Ava Coleman in Abbott Elementary.

Janelle breathes life into a character that could easily feel one dimensional in the wrong hands. She brings the right amount of "completely-out-of-touch" to the role while still being believable, which is hard to achieve, and steals literally every scene she's in. Ava is an icon in the making, and it's all because of Janelle (and the writers who know what a talent they have on their hands).

What about Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent in Ted Lasso?

This character could easily be so unlikable that you could never root for him, but Brett brings a level of humanity to him that makes you love him in spite of yourself. Roy could also easily feel like a grumpy cartoon character, but I buy every second of his performance. Brett is Roy Kent.

And then you have Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda/The Scarlet Witch in WandaVision.

Elizabeth is easily one of the most talented actors in the MCU, and her portrayal of Wanda in WandaVision is truly unmatched. Being able to deftly switch between different styles and tones, all while delivering such a cohesive and moving performance, is truly an achievement, and I'll be thinking about it until the end of time.
