10 Times ABBA Reached Out To Us With Their Lyrics

One of the most successful bands touched all our hearts at least once with their beautiful lyrics.

    1. "This park and these houses, old streets I have walked Everything dear, will it be here One day when I am returning?

The opening lines from I wonder always make you have a reflective feel on life and makes you wonder how different life and things will be when you're older. This lyrics and tune adds the emotional element to it.

    2. I was in your arms Thinking I belonged there I figured it made sense Building me a fence Building me a home Thinking I'd be strong there But I was a fool Playing by the rules

The popular The Winner Takes It All song has the power to make us all bit emotional, Agnetha's voice fits this ballad too well. We all remember relationships that we wish had continued and this song and this verse floods back the memories and makes us all think of the dreaded what if question.

    3. I still don't know what you've done with me A grown-up woman should never fall so easily

The 80s song Lay All Your Love On Me, this song symbolises the dark side of a relationship and how possessive someone can get in a relationship with someone they love dearly. This line relates to us easy as it shows how thrown back we can get about someone and how quick we can be deceived into relationships.

    4. Under attack, I'm being taken About to crack, defenses breaking Won't somebody please have a heart Come and rescue now 'cause I'm falling apart

The not so popular Under Attack song has a major hidden meaning to it and these lyrics can show either about someone opening up to the romantic ways of a man so he can take advantage of a woman or just how overwhelmed some of the band felt about their rather high popularity. Relatable lyrics in the right situation.

    5. Chiquitita, you and I know How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end You will have no time for grieving

The 1979 song about a girl who has had an abusive relationship and the best friend is there to comfort 'Chiquitita' and trying to say they come and they go, the scars will stay but you will get through this and there will be someone for you. A glimmer of hope for anyone who thinks there is no-one for them.

    6. Super Trouper beams are gonna blind me But I won't feel blue Like I always do 'Cause somewhere in the crowd there's you I was sick and tired of everything When I called you last night from Glasgow All I do is eat and sleep and sing

The simple 80s song has a rather simpler meaning that touches and reaches out to us. The "Super Trouper" is a singer and they are showing that even though they have so much popularity and doing what they want the most they would trade in the popularity and star-studded career just to be with that special one. Gives you sympathy and hope and love at the same time.

    7. Must have opened my front door at eight o'clock or so And stopped along the way to buy some Chinese food to go I'm sure I had my dinner watching something on TV There's not, I think, a single episode of Dallas that I didn't see

The not so popular The Day Before You Came song evokes a feeling of sadness and emotion. The song is about a lonely woman and her rather repetitive and dull routine the day before her lover came or it can show a woman who is seen as lonely waiting for someone to come to her and slowly giving up on a quest for love.

    8. Schoolbag in hand, she leaves home in the early morning Waving goodbye with an absent-minded smile I watch her go with a surge of that well-known sadness And I have to sit down for a while

Slipping Through My Fingers-the song parents can relate too. Obviously this set of lyrics and the song is about a parent not having enough time to do stuff with a child and watching them grow up too quickly and them slipping through their reach. The one time ABBA has everyone crying because of a song.

9.It's so strange when you're down and lying on the floor How you rise, shake you Standing calmly at the crossroads,no desire to runr head, get up and ask for more Clear-headed and open-eyed With nothing left untried

Wow, When All Is Said And Done, sung after the happy divorce between Benny and Frida and all of this song reaches out to you. Its about a couple whom have grown old and are ready to die and are reflecting back on their life and memories and its saying sending the message of don't regret a thing. Although a B-side, this song has the capability to reach out to every single one of you.

10.Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war Waterloo - Promise to love you for ever more Waterloo - Couldn't escape if I wanted to Waterloo - Knowing my fate is to be with you Waterloo - Finally facing my Waterloo

The Eurovison winner of 1974 Waterloo. The metaphorical use of the Napolean's loss at Waterloo shows a woman becoming closer to a man and the woman is falling for the mans romance and his sexual ways and the woman cannot escape. A perhaps pop version about a very serious forbidden relationship
