It's no secret that Canadians love to say "sorry" (pronounced: "sore-ree") but our stereotype of politeness has ACTUALLY turned over-apologizing into a cultural norm.
Before we get into the especially apologetic parts of the country, let's all get on the same page about how much we're apologizing. The study found that the average Canadian says "sorry" approximately nine times per day.
Okay, so, fine – there's truth to stereotypes after all! But with that logic, as a Canadian, I figured the number one "most sorry" city in Canada would be home to one of the Atlantic provinces, like the Maritimes!
But time and time again, science never fails to knock us off our little feet. Because in the number one spot, the winner of "Canadian City That Apologizes The Most" .....
🥇 Burlington, Ontario apologizes 18 TIMES A DAY.
However, interestingly enough, the study also finds Burlington to be the city that swears the most – approximately 15 times per day! Proving once again, the GTA really can do it all ... EXCEPT be considered "from Toronto."
Okay, SORRY, sorry – back to the apologizers. In another shocking podium placement, the second-most-sorry-city in Canada can also be found in the Greater Toronto Area... You'll never believe it, it's Oakville, Ontario!
In third place (yet somehow the most shocking of all) — Longueuil, Québec.
Longueuil is its own city but it's directly across from the definitively coolest city in Canada (that's according to me), Montréal! Cool AND apologetic? Now that's my type!
Well, it might be time to drop that stereotype about Québec because not only did Longueuil snag a top spot, Lévis and Québec City also made it on this list – for a total of three Québec cities out of ten.
