You're on laser-focused, on task, highly responsible. You pride yourself on the ability to argue the fine points in your essays and in real life, and you always get the last word. We pity those who think you're wrong.

Lawyer

While all English majors are assumed to be on this career path, you on the other hand, are a legitimate candidate. You are cheerful, good with kids, and enjoy the process of learning. School is cool!

Teacher

You might use a one-strap backpack, wear plaid often, and love coffee. You LOVE coffee. You also love researching literary criticism on the residual effects of modernism in contemporary society, or something similar, even though most people would be bored to death if they tried reading it. You also have some great relationships with professors and genuinely enjoy the university setting.

Professor

"First we read. Then we write." -Ralph Waldo Emerson. You do both of these so much, you actually read more books that aren't on your syllabus, and you just can't stop writing. Journals, napkins, notepads- it doesn't matter. You also may have an affinity for cats and/or rainy days.

Writer

You're the student who always volunteers to proofread everyone's papers. You love fixing commas, grammatical errors, and whenever you hit "Spell-Check" on Microsoft Word there's no mistakes. You might even work at UK's writing center!

Editor

You have a myriad of interests- a bit of everything- and you don't know which to choose. You might feel pulled in many directions simultaneously, but don't worry! There's a lot you can do with an English Degree from UK, even if it has nothing to do with writing.
