7 Reasons Why We Still Love 80's Cult Teen Movie 'Teen Witch'

'Teen Witch' is a 1989 teen fantasy comedy film starring Robyn Lively. Hailed as a female musical alternative to 'Teen Wolf' it initially flopped at the box office upon its release and was generally panned by critics. However, like most of the greatest movies ever made and thanks to late night screenings in cinemas and on cable, it has found itself a fiercely loyal fan base over the years (myself included) and moved into cult movie status. Here, we take a look at 7 of the main reasons why people still wanna TOP THAT, over 25 years later...

Robyn Lively AKA Louise Miller

Red headed beauty Robyn Lively was just 16 years old when she was cast in the lead role of 'Teen Witch' Louise Miller. A normal high school girl who long to be popular and who inherits magic powers on her 16th birthday. Robyn is the older sister of 'Gossip Girl' star Blake Lively. Yes, that's right! Long before Serena Van Der Woodsen set foot on Park Avenue, Robyn was building a career on Film and TV that would include roles in Twin Peaks, the movie Wildcats, Punk Brewster and she can now be seen on Amazon Video's successful series 'Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street'.

Looking great at 43 years old, Robyn has been married to 'High School Musical's' Coach Bolton AKA Bart Johnson since 1999 and the couple have 3 children.

Brad Powell (AKA Brad The Red Hot Lover)

The insanely delicious teen dream Brad Powell was played by Dan Gauthier. He was Louise's high school crush (and ours too) and it's easy to see why!

Dan is still acting today and still looking drop dead gorgeous by the way.
He doesn't have an IG account as yet. But, the word on the street is him and Robyn are still friendly and she's been trying to convince him to join up! DO IT BRAD...pleeease!!

Played brilliantly by Joshua John Miller, Louise's younger sibling Richie brought major LOLZ to this film, with his witty one liners and his constant berating of his sister on her quest for acceptance and popularity.

The Prom Scene/Finest Hour

Finest Hour is probably the most underrated movie soundtrack song of all time. It is a beautiful mid-tempo rock ballad and was performed by Cindy Valentine, who also played fictional pop star Shana in the movie.

It comes around in the movies final climatic scene, where Louise's dreams all finally come true. She has to find out if Brad can love her for her, powers or no powers. But as he glides along the dance floor towards her and they do quite possibly the best choreography ever...it's clear he loves her!

The only thing that makes this scene even better and more memorable is hearing that Robyn re-enacted this legendary scene (with original choreography) for her younger sister Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds, at their wedding in 2012. Classic!!
