As a self-proclaimed nerd, Ready Player One is up there with one of my favourites. There's heaps of gaming and '80s references, as well as some futuristic tech that almost makes you want to live in the same time period the book takes place in.
Perhaps the page-turning drama of Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty was more your cup of tea.

Or maybe it's the controversial yet gut-wrenching tales told in A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara that gets your vote.
