10 Struggles Of When Your Parents Move A Lot

This is for you, international kids. The ones who can say you've lived all around the world, or at least that you have visited your parents all around the world. If you cannot relate to these, not sure who can.

1. You are not really sure where to call "home" anymore.

You can't call where you were born "home" because you haven't lived there in ages. You can't call the current place your parents live in "home" because it doesn't feel like home. WHAT IS "HOME"?!

2. Skype is your best friend.

Your friends and family are all scattered around and the easiest way to see them is via Skype. If there is a time difference between you guys, coordinating is a pain in the sass.

3. You definitely own more than one passport or ID card.

Deciding which one to take with you on a trip is a struggle. Not to mention making sure you don't lose any of them. Let's be honest, it's hard enough keeping one safe.

4. You speak 2+ languages.

People don't understand you say stuff wrong occasionally because there are a trillion of languages inside your head just waiting patiently to be used. Some things are better said in certain languages.

5. Those 2+ languages did NOT come easy though.

You were probably the mute kid in school for a while. Until you slowly mastered how to ask for certain things and maybe learned one or two swear words.

6. You can't really explain where your accent came from.

7. Planes are your most used method of transportation.

And you fly economy, obviously. Your knees hurt, your butt goes numb, and your ankles swell up. Let's not forget you have probably watched all the movies and TV series they have to offer. You are also yet to master the art of sleeping on a plane. Lovely.

8. You have to take ALL your possessions with you when you go to uni.

Who knows when your parents will move again? What if they suddenly end up in Singapore? You can't just pop to your house and get that banging red dress of yours if you are in need of it. Major nightmare.

9. And when you come back your room is no longer your room.

Mainly because your parents now live in another country. But, yep, it's become a storage room. Or even worse; your younger sibling has taken over it. "You are never here anyway". WHAT ABOUT MY FEELINGS?! DOES ANYONE CARE ANYMORE?!

10. Overall your life is a little bit of a hot mess.

Face it, most people are jealous of how international you are. Getting to travel, speaking different languages, having a bed to sleep in in pretty much every corner of the world if needed, and having multiple nationalities are a huge plus in life. Plus, your accent is a "mutt" accent but it's super cute. Yes it may suck to leave friends behind and not have a permanent home, but it makes you who you are today and you know you would not have it any other way!
