Today, dating has gone almost exclusively viral and is more reliant on your ability to jazz up your online profile than ever before. All you need to have is a good looking picture and you'll find a date in no time.

Case in point, the mobile dating app "Tinder" has made finding someone to date, or even just meet, easy by relying on a first glance at profile pictures. The app caught so much traction that during this year's Winter Olympics, Tinder was what most of the athletes in the Olympic Village were using to hook-up with one another.

When most people think of finding someone online, they usually split that idea into two subcategories: finding someone to sleep with vs. finding someone to start dating. The people looking for something casual use apps like Tinder, whereas those a bit more serious are looking through profiles on sites like eHarmony.

The problem with Tinder is that is gives a sort of grimy feel to the interaction because all you know about the person is how they look in their profile picture. You could easily get “Catfished” and end up talking to a 63 year old woman rather than the 19 year old you’ve been fantasizing about.

Tinder’s demographic LOVES the app because of the easy usage. Whether you’re in a boring meeting, sitting on a bus, or in a waiting room, you can kill time by glancing through some photos of potential matches in your area. But these people aren't looking for something serious, making it a smaller demographic.

Tinder could open up the door to people more serious by adding more info about the prospective bachelor/bachelorette. But by adding the regular info you would see on an eHarmony profile, Tinder blends in to its competition and loses its appeal. If only there was something else unique to add to Tinder to make it a killer mix. What Tinder needs is a fun activity that shows its user's interests in a way that connects users together.

Moreover, it gives you a few topics of conversation you can try to steer towards on a first date.
