Dormitory is an integral part of a college student life. Here are some things every freshman needs to know about living in a dorm:

1. Having a roommate is always fun

You will never get bored with a roommate. He will make you smile even when you have a bad day because this is what roommates are for!

2. It is easy to meet new people because they live next to you

It might be awkward at first, but get ready to meet new people every day!

3. Your roommate is your best friend and worst enemy

While roommate can be your best friend, he can also be your worst enemy. Don’t be surprised if the whole dorm knows about your secrets.

4. You have to put clothes on to go to the bathroom

It makes life way harder because you have to put clothes on every time you go to the bathroom unless you want everyone to see you in underwear. If that’s the case, make sure to put a nice one on!

5. You never get enough sleep

This is a constant feeling and you will get used to it after awhile. Staying on top of homework is always hard and you will never get enough sleep.

6. You will always find a study buddy

You will always find someone that will want to study with you. However, you will probably end up doing the whole work by yourself!

7. You know all the songs because your neighbor brings the volume all the way up

You are a pro in music and know all the songs because of your neighbor that loves to listen to music and turns it all the way up.

8. You want to kill your neighbors because they are loud

Most of the time this loud music is annoying and you just want to kill them.

9. There is always a line to the bathroom when you have to use it

It is sort of karma – there is always a line to the bathroom every time you need to use it, but you are taking forever if you are already doing your thing.

10. You have to do your own laundry

There is no “Mom, can you please do my laundry?” You have to know how to do it unless you want to stink.

11. Your roommate always goes to bed when it is time for homework

It feels like your roommate never has homework because you are staying up for hours when he is already asleep for a couple…

12. Wi-Fi is horrible

Wi-Fi is one of the worst things about the dorm. There is no Wi-Fi basically!

13. Have low expectations

Do not come with big expectations. Dorm is not a palace and not even your room at home! Get ready to make it look nicer.

14. Beds are small

Beds are tiny. You will for sure be uncomfortable if you are taller than six foot!

15. It smells bad more often than good

It always smells in a dorm. The fun part is that you won’t even understand where it comes from. But you will get used to it after a month.

16. Roaches are a part of a dorm

They are the owners of your dorm; you are just a resident! Remember it, but be ready to kill one. It is almost like a tradition.

17. You finally get to live without your parents

You love your parents, but you also cannot wait to move out from them. This is you chance – take it! But don’t forget to call them at least once a week.

18. Living on the top floor is never nice because of move in/out day

It is nice to live on the top floor during the year until you start moving out at the end. It will be a pain in your butt, trust me.

19. Messy roommates

Most students are extremely messy. Be ready to get over it if you are not one of them.

20. Your roommate is the biggest distraction

Your roommate will never let you do your homework. If you need to do it, go to the library. College room is not a place to study!

21. Agree with your roommate no matter what

It is better to agree with your roommate than have an argument. Remember – you are trying to have him as your best friend, not the worst enemy!
