My Dive Into iOS

A short story of how I decided to create my own iOS application. How work, memories and "Game of Thrones" forced me:)

How it all began.

Sitting in a cafe with MacBook and looking at the «Pending developer release» status of my «Pocket SeaShell» application in iTunes.. very exciting and unusual. How did this happen? Of course I’ve always liked Apple products: both gadgets and software, but I was only a consumer of applications and games for iOS, OS X and never though about creating my own app.

The story began one Friday in December, 2014. As it usually happened at the end of the year I had a lot of work and that day even stood out above the rest. I was at home very late without any desire to have Friday fun with friends somewhere in the city center. I wanted only to relax and have a deserved rest. But my head was full of customers, milestones, meeting minutes and God knows what else. Even watching another episode of the «Game of Thrones» was not able to free my mind, can you imagine?

I was sitting on the sofa and thinking how it would be great to find myself on the sea beach with sun, wind and splashing water.. I caught my sight on seashells which I brought from the sea in childhood and remembered how we played with them putting one to the ear and listening to a mysterious ocean sound. We thought it was somehow magically hid there by ocean spirit or something like this:)

I took a larger one and put it to my ear - yeah! The same sound! I was smiling and my thoughts flew away to that carefree time which passes so quickly, but always lives in our hearts. Not sure how long I was sitting like this, but when I was back to reality I thought that it would be nice to have such «relaxing seashell» at work. Hmm.. and in the car. Hmm.. the best option is to always have it with me, just in case. What’s a pity that my seashells are too large!

A pair of hours later when I was almost asleep I caught the tail of one thought which was not able to sneak away: iPhone! It is always with me and it can be whatever I want. Even a seashell. Zzzzzzzz…

Next evening I was typing the “Apple develop app” search query in Google.. About 3 months passed and I’m sitting in a cafe with MacBook and looking at the «Pending developer release» status of my «Pocket SeaShell» application in iTunes :)
