"Here’s my old-lady quote: It beats Barbra Streisand’s 'Evergreen' all to hell." –My mom

My mom and I are very excited about the Oscars this Sunday, so we decided to listen to all of the Best Original Song nominees and rate them.

Warner Bros. Television / Via giphy.com

My mom, Nancy, says her favorite song is "San Francisco" by Maxime Le Forestier. My favorite song is "Delicate" by Taylor Swift.

Here are our Best Original Song thoughts and ratings.

"Fight for You" from Judas and the Black Messiah, music by H.E.R. and Dernst Emile II, lyrics by H.E.R. and Tiara Thomas

Our ratings for Best Original Song:

Nancy: Great groove, great vocal, but it seems to be a made-for-the-movie song, not stand-alone (sorry). Rating: 7/10

Hope: Beautiful song, but it does feel like it's from a movie, which I know is the category, but in my opinion, these songs should also stand on their own. Rating: 7/10 (Lol, my mom and I said the exact same thing without consulting each other.)

"Hear My Voice" from The Trial of the Chicago 7, music by Daniel Pemberton, lyrics by Daniel Pemberton and Celeste Waite
