1. Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston from Friends
Like many girls growing up in the 90’s/00’s, I was obsessed with “Friends.” But with that being said, we all know there is one person missing in this picture: Courtney Cox/Monica. Where was she at the time of the photo shoot? Was she in a fight with Phoebe and Rachel? The unsolved explanation of why the Got Milk people only chose 2 of the 3 main female characters still keeps me up at night.
2. David Copperfield
David Copperfield was so 90’s. I remember this ad and remember thinking how clever the Got Milk people were with their “making milk disappear” gimmick for this one.
3. Jennifer Love Hewitt
This ad used to make me cringe because of the grimy kitchen Jennifer Love appears to have made a mess in, but I used to love her and loved seeing her as the laid back boxers-and-robe slouch that I can relate to.
4. Venus and Serena Williams
These two were and still are so badass. Admit it: you wanted those beads.
5. Steven Tyler
This ad came out right around the same time as the unforgettable Aerosmith/’NSync/Britney/Nelly Super Bowl halftime show in 2001. I was also pretty fascinated by his mani.
6. Britney Spears
And speaking of that 2001 Super Bowl halftime show, here is Queen Britney. I most certainly tried reenacting this ad with the phone and plate of cookies, obviously failing because no one can live up to Britney.
7. Britney - Part 2
My jaw dropped when I first saw this ad, mostly because I think Britney was probably the first celebrity to have not one but TWO Got Milk ads within a few years. It was so edgy and grown up.
8. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Speaking of grown ups, here is MK and Ash launching one of many successful attempts to prove to the world that they were no longer Michelle Tanner.
9. Whoopi Goldberg
I’m pretty confident that Whoopi is in every ad that promotes good health and reading.
10. Pacey Witter (aka Joshua Jackson)
OMG guys, it’s Pacey. I remember being kind of disappointed that he was the only one from “Dawson’s Creek” to have one of these ads, but if it had to be just one, I think we can all agree that Pacey was the right choice.
11. Daisy Fuentes
I remember thinking Daisy Fuentes was awesome on “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and I remember thinking this ad was also awesome. Now it seems pretty random.
12. The Got Milk superfan
I was such a huge Got Milk ads fan growing up that seeing this girl with her white outfit and her ads taped to her walls inspired me to do the same thing. I went magazine hunting and ad-cutting crazy from then on.
They make an MMMBop joke in the blurb, Zac has kids 90’s sunglasses hanging out of his tee shirt, and there is a lot of long hair and necklaces. I can’t really imagine a more perfect Hanson ad.
14. Rebecca Romijn
Uncle Jesse’s ex-wife left me forever jealous with her super awesome model bod and exceptional confidence that allowed her to stand half-naked in a city (I didn’t know about green screens back then).
15. Mrs. Partridge (Shirley Jones), Mrs. Cunningham (Marion Ross), and Mrs. Brady (Florence Henderson)
I loved this ad so much because I loved the idea of these three ladies hanging out together after their shows weren’t on the air anymore. Someone please tell me they actually did.
16. Mischa Barton
Mischa played our favorite next-door neighbor Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.” I’m not too ashamed to admit that I believed if I drank milk like her, I could maybe be her.
17. Alex Trebek
Since “Jeopardy!” is still one of my favorite shows, I can’t continue on with this list without Trebek. I miss his moustache.
18. Buffy (aka Sarah Michelle Gellar)
This picture of our favorite slayer with her bra/corset (is that a corset? why?) hanging out seemed so daring to me at the time when I first saw it. But that’s Buffy for you- daring.
19. Bart and Lisa Simpson
I assure you this ad was way funnier when it was published in the 90’s, much like the show itself (sorry, Matt Groening). I used to think it was so cool too that they were dressed up for the “photo shoot.”
20. JTT (aka Jonathan Taylor Thomas)
If you grew up in the 90’s, you had a crush on JTT. This photo is fresh from his prime.
21. The Backstreet Boys
Easily one of the best Got Milk ads you saw growing up. The most beloved. When going through my collection, this was the prized item. Brian adorably sipping out of his cup while everyone else gives us the classic 90’s boy band –bad boy black leather stance.
- Verizon and unions representing 39,000 workers have reached an agreement that should end the largest U.S. strike in since 2011.
- Twenty-three athletes who competed in the 2012 Olympic Games in London have failed retrospective doping tests, officials say.
- Barack Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to visit the site of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima, Japan. The "memory of August 6, 1945 must never fade."
