Especially the lines “I do not want to be afraid. I do not want to die inside just to breathe in. I’m tired of feeling so numb. Relief exists, I find it when I am cut.” Those lines just spoke volumes to me in my teenage depression years.

historyluvr92 commented on What’s A Song Lyric So Powerful, It Literally Changed The Way You See Yourself?

The song”Cut” by Plumb. As someone who has suffered with self-harm for nearly 15 years, this song really made me feel like there was someone out there who understood that sometimes it’s easier to express feelings physically than verbally. It may be a depressing song, but whenever…

historyluvr92 commented on What's Your Favorite "Mamma Mia!" Moment?

The deleted scene in Mamma Mia 2 with "I Wonder...". The line when she sings "I'm not a coward, oh, no I'll be strong" resonates with me every time. It reminds me that anyone can get through anything life throws their way, no matter how scary it is. Definitely one of my favorite songs…

"I've killed no one. I've ordered no one to be killed. These children who come at you with their knives, they're your children. You taught them, I didn't. I just tried to help them stand up." Charles Manson

historyluvr92 commented on What's A Horror Movie Moment So Scary, It Scarred You For Life?

In Orphan, when they turn on the black light in the fish tank and you see what Esther had really painted. Also when we find out that she's really a deranged 30-year-old who preys on men, and we see her take off all the makeup and ribbons. That movie scared me for weeks, and I still…

Cooking pasta in the microwave. Just add a few minutes to the recommended time, and it'll be perfect. Saved my life in the college dorms and when I was renting with limited kitchen privileges!

historyluvr92 commented on What Book Do You Wish Existed?

A guide to surviving the loss of a parent in your twenties. I was 23 when my mom died, and I wish I had a book to help me through it and remind me that I would be okay.

I slipped off a cold bench when I was in fourth grade. I put my hand out to stop myself from falling, and I ended up breaking my wrist. Funny thing is: it was October in LA!

The 1993 version of "The Secret Garden". Maggie Smith as Mrs. Medlock, Kate Maberly as Mary Lennox... you can't go wrong. The music is incredible, also.

historyluvr92 commented on What Nonfiction Book Gives You The Creeps?

"Green River Running Red" by Ann Rule. It's about the Green River Killer, a.k.a. Gary Ridgeway, and focuses more on the victims and the discovery of their bodies than on him. An incredible book by an incredible author.
