A lute is an instrument most closely related to a guitar! This instrument was one of the most popular instruments of its time. In any court or any festival you could count on this instrument being played. The lute originated in Germany around the 14th century. Interestingly enough, most lute instruments were made out of spruce wood. The lute is an oval like shape and has around four to eight strings on it!

A curtal is an instrument most closely related to a flute! The curtal is a Renaissance woodwind instrument. This beautiful instrument was created around the 16th century. It was also believed to be created in Italy. The most interesting fact about this instrument is that it does not come in just one size — it came in a plethora of different sizes.

A viol is an instrument most closely related to a violin! When heard, this instrument sounds almost identical to a violin. One of the main differences between the viol and the violin is that the viol is played on the legs. This instrument usually has about six strings. As with most instruments, this instrument was created in Italy around the 16th century.

A sackbut is an instrument most closely related to a horn! This instrument is one of the oldest instruments in this quiz. Like a lot of horned instruments, the sackbut came from France around the 15th century. It is believed that the specific region sackbut came from is Burgundy. This instrument is definitely my favorite on the list because of the beautiful sound that comes from it.
