The obvious choice is to be an English teacher, but that's not all; you can also be a speech writer, social media manager, technical writer, editor, lawyer etc. The list goes on and on.

Discover new worlds in a Creative Fiction class. Find your inner Shakespeare with an Intro to Poetry course. Explore what ideas are lurking around in the back of your mind. Who knows, you might become the next J.K. Rowling.

Never again will you be tricked by the English language. Not to mention, you'll be able to annoy all your friends by correcting their silly mistakes.

6. Prepare to become the Speedy Gonzales of writing

We all procrastinate, and we all experience writers block. Being an English major will teach you how fast you can write when a deadline is involved.

7. You will learn how to be concise

Less is more. Your professors will have page limits, and it's best to respect that. Following directions is half the battle.

Regurgitating information is overrated. English majors create intelligent conversations through discussion and writing. Being able to problem solve will get you far in any given career and life in general.

9. Communication is key

You'll learn Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are your friends. Although most of your work will be independent, you'll start to realize giving presentations isn't that bad. Everyone is just as nervous as you are.

10. 1000% worth it

When all is said and done, college may be some of the best years of your life. The friendships and memories you make with fellow English majors, friends, and even professors are priceless.
