Cold snap forecast for parts of UK

Cold snap forecast to replace last year’s rain, but Sara Richardson warns heating oil users to be cautious.

After months of seemingly endless rain, the cold winter and early spring temperatures expected by many may finally be on their way, bringing with them their own set of dangers and causing many heating oil users to ensure their supplies are topped up in preparation.A period of unseasonably mild temperatures followed the torrential downpours of November and December, but many forecasters are predicting that these will give way to much colder temperatures throughout late January. The Met Office expects cold, dry weather fronts to move in from the east, bringing with them colder daytime temperatures, fog, frost and even snow in parts of Scotland and Northern England. While for many the colder, drier temperatures will be a welcome change from the rain that swept across the country for much of 2012, HeatingOil.co.uk's Sara Richardson has warned rural homeowners to be wary of the colder temperatures.'Cold snaps always coincide with an increase in the number of heating oil and premium kerosene orders,' she said, 'and this often means that delivery times will be longer and homeowners will need to wait to have their fuel topped up.''Cold weather can be dangerous if you don't have access to adequate heating, even in the UK. I'd urge homeowners to order their heating oil early so as to not get caught out when the temperature begins to drop.'
