In preparation of your trip, watch _Tombs of the Blind Dead_ (1972). Then, walk around Santiago de Palmela in Palmela, Portugal. This 15th century church will be breathtaking, as long as you can manage not to picture the skeleton knights and gory scenes of your new favorite movie. If you're looking to visit the coast, the beach towns of Estoril and Sesimbra are also featured in the film!

I think you could use something a bit more lighthearted. Whereas the United States has _Sharknado_ and _The Blob_, Greece has _The Attack of the Giant Moussaka_ (1999). The streets of Athens will never be the same after this traditional dish arrives. Of course, you'll have to order some moussaka on your trip, before island hopping and getting in some much needed rest and relaxation!

When you think of Switzerland, you probably imagine the Swiss Alps and picturesque small towns. While of course you need to see those, how about visiting some darker, and potentially haunted, locations as well? Check out the Oberhofen Castle on Lake Thun, Devil’s Bridge in Andermatt, or the Grand National Hotel in Lucerne, just to name a few!

There's no shortage of eerie locations and histories to explore in the UK. From Jack the Ripper tours in London, to the tunnels used by body snatchers below Edinburgh, you can have a truly hair-raising trip. In preparation, watch some horror films set in the UK, such as _The Woman in Black_ (2012) and _The Conjuring 2_ (2016)!

You should visit the United Kingdom!

No fan of the macabre can visit France and not go to the Catacombs of Paris. The bones of more than six million, including some noteworthy names such as Robespierre, are buried beneath the streets where you sip your espresso and butter your croissant. Of course, with a location this eerie, there is a horror movie made completely around it. Watch _Catacombs_ (2007) before your trip!

You should visit France!

Did you recently watched _A Haunting in Venice_ (2023)? If not, you'll have to before your Italian adventure! While you should see all of the touristy staples (they're actually worth it), add some eerie and haunted locations to your itinerary as well, such as the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo or the Evil Tower as Castello di Poppi!
