Angry Twitter users have confronted a man who tweeted that he had accosted a Muslim woman following the Brussels terrorist attacks.
Matthew Doyle, from Croydon, claimed that he had 'confronted' a Muslim woman yesterday, asking her to explain the Brussels terrorist attacks, in which more than 30 people were killed and 250 injured following suicide attacks on Brussels airport and the Maelbeek Metro Station.
In the since deleted Tweet, Matthew (now dubbed #mealymouthedman) complained that the woman was unable to offer him a satisfactory explanation for the suicide bombers' actions, giving a "mealy mouthed reply".
Outraged Twitter users were quick to point out the senselessness of his actions, asking whether he felt he should also be held accountable for the actions of white terrorists such as Norwegian murderer Anders Breivik, who slaughtered 77 young people in a politically motivated attack in 2011.
The London School of Economics alumnus rejected the comparison, however, reasoning that the Norwegian attack was an isolated incident; he did not explain why British Muslims should be expected to offer answers concerning the "coordinated attack on Western Democracy".
