I am a bleeding heart liberal from Republican hell known as none other than the great state of Oklahoma. A Liberal to me is someone who doesn't selfishly think only of themselves while fighting for the constitutional rights of the poor, disabled, uninsured, elderly, homeless, minority, women, homosexuals, and all other groups shunned or hated by society in general due to sheer ignorance. Unlike most Liberals I personally believe in God and the right for responsible gun ownership (I know, shocking huh?). The biggest thing that turns me off about conservatives both Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats is their complete disregard for the groups I mentioned above in order to protect their fat cat corporate owners (which is unconstitutional as they swore to protect the people). For me they're nothing more than puppets whose strings are being controlled by their owners or shall I say large corporations like banks, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and Wall Street. My hope is that one day soon, maybe the next election in 2010 the great citizens of Oklahoma as well as the citizens of other mid-western/southern states will wake up to the harm Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats do in their lives when they have power as evident from the eight years under the Cheney Admin... OOPS! I mean the Bush Administration. Republicans are so quick to jump on President Obama for our current economic problems even though he inherited it all on January 20th, 2009 and have fought him at every turn when trying to repair the damage they caused. We all need to remember it took Bush/Cheney 8 years to bankrupt our nation and nearly throw us into a depression similar to that of the one in 1929-30's under a, you guessed it, Republican President Herbert Hoover who like the Republicans of today decided to do nothing and allow the private market to fix itself. As we all know from history that was a catastrophic decision which worsened and prolonged the economic free fall. It wasn't until the following President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was a Democrat that our nation pulled out of the depression in large part because of the "New Deal" which included government funded initiatives, public works programs, and overhaul of the financial system. Sound familiar? Well it should, because the "New Deal" then is quite similar to that of which President Obama and the Democrats in Congress want to pass in order to pull us out of the economic black hole we're all being sucked into. So, I ask each and every one of you to please put some faith in our President and pressure your Congress men/women to work with him so we can move our nation forward. The alternative will be catastrophic.
